How can I create a wifi hotspot with my laptop and my sprint EVDO network adapter air card?
I have a belkin wireless G router. My laptop has a port for the router and a port for a modem. Do I need a modem? If so, what cables are needed.
You can’t. Internet hotspots and wireless routers use a standard networking protocol (802.11 to be exact) while the air cards use 3g/4g.
The wireless cards attempt to communicate with the 802.11 signals while the aircards from Sprint communicate directly with Sprint’s cell towers using 3g/4g
The two can not talk to each other.
An option exists for routers that actually look for the 802.11 signal, then sends that signal 3g/4g to the Sprint towers, acting much like a wireless router in your home — just routing the signals to the Sprint towers rather than your cable. A device like this would provide you with your hotspot.
