Can I get a 2 gb DDR2 667 memory for my inspiron 1501 if its 533?

I have an inspiron 1501 and some people told me you can’t do it and some people say it degrades. I just want to know if I get a 2 GB DDR2 667 will it work with my laptop? my laptops is right now has 2 512 MB DDR2 533

in which case it will not work

2 sticks of 1GB DDR2 667 will do fine
but mind you, it will default to DDR2 533 speeds > cause that’s what your system supports

1GB per slot is what your system can take, not 2GB
