Laptop 7200

If I switch my laptop’s 5400 rpm hard drive out for a 7200 rpm one, it should still function properly, right?

I know it’ll drain the battery life faster, but I meant in terms of what the motherboard supports. I have a pavilion dv2700, and I’d like to put a newer laptop hard drive in it. Both are SATA, too. Thanks!

Yeah it will run just fine, all that it will improve, is a transfer rate, meaning if you were to transfer a 500mb file from a flash drive, it will transfer slightly faster with a 7200. You could even put a 4200 in, and it would still function perfect, just with a slower transfer rate.
