I use Dropbox. It’s free, very easy to use, has never gone wrong (been using about 12 months) and works on Mac, Linux and Windows altogether at the same time standing on its head with one arm tied behind its back.
Seriously, I am so glad I chose it. It just sits there doing its stuff…perfectly. It even handles file conflicts well – i.e. if you change the same file at the same time from 2 different computers.
Live Mesh is a bit more complicated…in a bad way. I think you need to select which folders you want to be synced and then they change color etc etc. Dropbox gives you a folder for all the stuff you want synced and this folder is the same on each computer. There is a cool little icon appended to the folder symbol that tells you that all files are synced. You can also access your files via the web from a computer that does not have Dropbox installed – at work for example.
The link at the top is my “refer a friend” link so if you click it and sign up there both you and I will get an extra 250MB, not bad eh? And no, I’m not overstating how good it is just for the extra 250MB of storage I’ll get if you sign up through my “friend” link. Anyway, if I was that desperate for an extra 250MB worth of Dropbox, it would definitely be worth getting, wouldn’t it? Think about it!
I’m gonna stop now cos I sound like a Dropbox fanboy or something…actually I probably am…
Don’t forget to use this link…
