Is my work situation a wrongful termination?
I have been working as a computer technician for the this city. I have been working their for 6months and never missed a day of work. Never been written up for anything either. To sum it up i was a great technician.
I was fires yesterday because my boss heard me call him a “bi*ch a*s nig*a.” I was calling his cell phone from my cell but he never answered his phone. I had forgot to hang up my phone and this is when his phone recorded what i had said.
yesterday after work i was fired. i was not givin no papers to sign no nothing but my check that i have to pick up on tuesday. I have read our companies handbook and it stated “that an exit interview may be scheduled.” i was basically told that i was terminated, give us our stuff back and get out. it this illegal? please reply
It was justifiable termination for using inappropriate language in the business setting and could be considered racist.
An exit interview in many cases is only done when an employee voluntarily leaves their position, not when they are terminated.
Chalk it up to a lesson learned the hard way on your part and when you get a new job, watch your behavior and language.
